Congratulations to Kaitlyn Haslam, of Osceola County School for the Arts, and Darrell Nieves Lugo, of Liberty High School, for garnering the Poinciana Area Council’s (PAC) annual scholarship award!
Every year, PAC awards two scholarships to deserving High School Seniors who reside in ZIP codes 34758, 34759 or 34746. These students were recognized at PAC’s Annual Scholarship Luncheon. The luncheon was held at Poinciana High School. Guest speakers for this event were Jon Arguello, Osceola County School Board member, district 3 and Jennifer Robertson, executive dean at Valencia College, Poinciana campus. Osceola County School District Superintendent Debra Pace was there to congratulate the students.
Osceola County Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington, district 3, gave a matching grant to PAC to allow this award to go to two students. PAC’s fundraising activities, which fund the scholarships, were limited by the pandemic. Great community partnership!

A.V.O.S., a community outreach program, will offer a drive-through food distribution on Saturday, May 8. The drive-through will be located at 1901 S. Poinciana Blvd., Suite 103. Distribution will be from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 407-519-0164.

Osceola Community Health Services, 109 Doverplum Ave., will be holding COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday, May 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All persons 18 years of age and older are eligible to receive this free vaccine.

As a reminder, there are two learning options for the 2021-22 school year in Osceola County – Face to Face to learning and Osceola Virtual School (OVS). Anyone interested in enrolling in OVS, must submit an application before July 16. Go to https://www.osceolaschools.net/domain/4746 to apply.
