Join First Baptist Poinciana (601 Walnut St.) on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. and celebrate Black History Month Enjoy music from the Gospel Choir of Evans High School. Shop the church’s African Outpost for authentic African clothing, home décor, soaps and more.

 

The ever-popular Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Dance, an Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) event, will be on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 6-9 p.m. at the Mary Jane Arrington Gym and Aquatic Center, 625 Country Club Dr. Adults ages 21 and over are invited to this free event. The Poinciana Library will wrap up February with some interesting programs. On Thursday, Feb. 15 from 1011 a.m. adults may improve their skills using the Internet by learning how to use a web browser, get an email address and make secure online transactions. After that, Homeschool Bookworms takes place at from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This is for children ages 6-11. Make new friends and embark on a journey by exploring a different book each month. On Saturday, Feb. 24 from 1-4 p.m. come check out the movie Harriet. Learn the story of Harriet Tubman and her journey through her escape from slavery to the dangerous missions she led, setting free hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad. This movie is rated PG-13. This is a wonderful way to wrap Black History Month.

OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will be at the Library on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 1-6 p.m. Be a hero by donating blood. Temperatures will be taken upon arrival. For more information, visit oneblood.org.

Graduating Class of 2024 Seniors – learn more about Osceola Prosper on Tuesday, Mar. 5 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Valencia College Poinciana campus.

Poinciana’s longest running Youth Sports Association, the Poinciana Predators Football and Cheer is now registering for the spring season. Spring training begins in March.  The ages 4-6 for flag, 7-14 for tackle and 4-14 for cheerleading.
