The application deadline for the Historic Awards & Plaque Program is Friday, March 1. The St. Cloud Main Street program and the City of St. Cloud collaborated on this program to recognize historic buildings within the City limits.

To apply or nominate someone for an historic award, there is a $50 fee and application that needs to be turned into St. Cloud City Hall. For an application, email Tristian at office@stcloudmainstreet.org.

That’s not all the excitement Friday holds. St. Cloud Main Street announces the return of Cloud Cash on Friday at 10 a.m. There is a $50 purchase limit per household for$100 Cloud Cash value. Vouchers will be ready for pickup, Tuesday, March 5. To purchase your Cloud Cash, go to www. stcloudmainstreet.org.

Cloud Cash is a voucher system where you can purchase $10 vouchers for only $5 each. These vouchers can be redeemed at participating downtown businesses toward purchases of $10 or more. The program aims to bring spending money to downtown merchants and encourage local shopping.

 

The City of St. Cloud will hold a ribbon-cutting event at the new Ted Broda skate park (4499 Michigan Ave. just north of Royal St. Cloud Golf Club), on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 10 a.m. This event will feature vendors, prizes, professional skateboarding demonstrations and more. ALCO (Adult Learning Center Osceola) is offering a Carpentry Pre-Apprentice Program. This program focuses on the basic skills needed to advance into a registered Carpentry Apprentice Program. Students will receive basic hands-on training. The tuition cost is $70 for new ALCO students and $50 for current students. Tuition includes books, lab supplies and certifications. Certifications include OSHA 10 hour and NCCER Core.

The City Cloud presents Movie in the Park on Friday, March 8. The PG movie “Over the Hedge” will begin at sunset at Hopkins Park. Bring your blankets and camp chairs and enjoy an outdoor movie while the weather’s still pleasant!

 

Roland Cruse, an accomplished plein air painter (Plein air painters are artists who paint the landscape directly from life outdoors) will have his work exhibited until Monday, March 11 at St. Cloud City Hall. His recent project, “St. Cloud Lakefront Outdoor Landscape Paintings” captures the scenic beauty of the area along the two-mile recreational pathway of St. Cloud Lakefront Park. Cruse created 30 oil paintings at the Lakefront during the summer and fall of 2023. Stop by City Hall and check it out.
