Here is a list of the upcoming events and classes offered by the UF-IFAS Osceola County Extension Servies office. Some events are virtual, some are in person at Osceola Heritage Park or other locations. Some are free and some have a fee and require registration; note the instructions for each class.

Starting Your Own Cottage Food Business

Beekeeping: Is it for me?

We cover the basic considerations for potential beekeepers: startup costs, legal aspects, space needs, physical requirements, risks, equipment needed, and time requirements for hive maintenance. Please take this class before attending the in-person Intro to Beekeeping series in October.

Osceola County 4-H Horse Program Open House

Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., UF|IFAS Extension Osceola County Stop horsing around and join us to learn more about the Osceola County 4-H Program. Meet our 4-H program members, volunteers, and get your questions answered. If you are between the ages of 8-18 and have an interest in horses, this is a program you will love! Make friends, gain horse knowledge, improve leadership skills and learn public speaking.

Intro to Beekeeping series

This series will give you the basic knowledge to get started with your beekeeping hobby or business. You will learn about the components of a hive, how a bee colony lives, how to use beekeeping tools and protective gear, and how to acquire and manage your own bee colonies.

Trees Osceola – Flowering Trees for Your Garden

During the class we are going to discuss the basic steps of planting, care and establishing a tree. In addition, we would talk about owering trees that can enhance your garden. A r attending the class, you would take home a beautiful owering tree.

During the class we are going to be talking about trees that you can add to your garden and enjoy harvesting fruits. We are going to be talking about selecting site and correct trees and planting.

Wildlife Habitat

Registration is required at: http://ocagriculture. eventbrite.com With the rapid urban growth, the wildlife is losing some of the key plants. During class we would talk about the importance of adding plants in the garden to provide some food and shelter to the Florida Wildlife.

Adding Color to Your Garden
