Little League sectional set for St. Cloud Friday

Hundreds of Little League baseball and softball players will be in St. Cloud Friday through Sunday for the Section 5 tournament. Champions from four local districts, including District 3, which covers teams in Osceola and Orange counties, have an opportunity to advance to state tournaments. Teams from Kissimmee, Buenaventura Lakes, St. Cloud, Celebration, South Orange, Pinecastle and Conway play in District 3.
The sectional games will be played at the St. Cloud Little League complex, located behind the civic center on 17th Street
Several local teams will participate, including the St. Cloud softball age 11-12 and age 9-10 teams. They won District 3 championships last week.
The Kissimmee age 10-11 baseball team won its District 3 championship Monday at the South Orange complex.
Several age groups winners advance to state, regional and national tournaments.
Anyone interested in volunteering at the tournament may contact Franny McNutt at frannymac33@yahoo.com. Scorekeepers, concession workers and field crew are needed. Volunteers may apply their hours to community service.
