A Celebration man, who barricaded himself inside a home, was found dead late Thursday evening of an apparent gunshot after a standoff with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office in the community.

At about 2:20 a.m., deputies entered the home at 909 Yew Court and found 52-year-old Craig Foushee dead after 14 hours of negotiations, Sheriff's Office reports said. After more than two hours without communication with Foushee, deputies used a robot to determine where he was in the home. Tear gas was then deployed inside the home before a Sheriff's Office SWAT team entered and found Foushee dead.

The incident began in the afternoon hours, when the Sheriff's Office closed several streets in the area and put local schools on lockdown in reference to a man who was alone inside a Celebration residence and indicated that he might harm himself.

During the standoff, Foushee shot at deputies several times in the evening when SWAT team members attempted to break into the front door and later during negotiations, Sheriff's Office reports said. Deputies did not return fire because they were unable to locate a target, no deputies were injured during the standoff.

It was the second significant law enforcement activity this week in Celebration. The Sheriff's Office Wednesday identified Matteo P. Giovanditto as Celebration's first homicide victim in the community’s 16-year existence.

Giovanditto, 58, was killed sometime over the extended Thanksgiving weekend and was discovered by a neighbor Monday morning, authorities said. A suspect in that case had not been located at press time Friday.

The two incidents were not related, Twis Lizasuain, Sheriff's Office public information officer, said.
