The Osceola County Sheriff's Office Wednesday identified Matteo P. Giovanditto as Celebration's first homicide victim. Giovanditto, 58, was killed sometime over the extended Thanksgiving weekend and was discovered by a neighbor Monday morning.
Detectives Tuesday afternoon located the vehicle registered to Giovanditto, who lived at the Idelwylde condominium complex near downtown Celebration.
Giovanditto's 2008 Chevrolet Corvette was found in the parking lot of the Reef Club Apartments at the corner of Columbia Avenue and Thacker Avenue in Kissimmee. The car was unattended and there was no damage to the vehicle. A Crimeline tip led investigators to the car.
At approximately 9:37 a.m. on Monday, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 543 Water St. in Celebration and upon arrival, spoke with a witness who said she went to check on her neighbor and found the victim dead in the condominium.
Based on evidence located in the condominium, detectives classified the incident as a homicide. The cause of death was not released.
This is the first homicide the Osceola County Sheriff's Office has worked in Celebration since the community’s founding in 1994, Twis Lizasuain, public information officer for the Sheriff's Office, said.
This is the sixth homicide the Sheriff's Office has handled this year; arrests have been made in four of the killings.

Calls made to Crimeline will remain anonymous, and tips that lead to the felony arrest of any suspects in the investigation are eligible for cash rewards of up to $5,000.
