A man impersonating a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent pulled over a resident in Campbell City Feb. 25, explaining that he was conducting an investigation in the area.

The resident said she was following her children on their bikes as they rode to school around 6 p.m. when she passed a gold SUV in front of her home. The vehicle approached her at a high rate of speed and the driver flashed his high beams.

She reluctantly pulled over. The driver of the SUV told her he was a federal agent and showed her his FBI identification. He said he was investigating particular residents on Ross Lanier Lane possibly involved in criminal activity.

Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies following up with the complaint contacted the Orlando FBI office. Agents there confirmed that they were not working any cases involving anyone on Ross Lanier Lane.

The victim was shown actual FBI credentials and she said they were not the same as the one the suspect had, Sheriff’s Office reports stated.

The suspected impersonator was described as a black male in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 190 and 220 pounds. He had a mustache and wore glasses. His vehicle might have been an older model Chevrolet Blazer with tinted windows.

Anyone with information or who was involved in a similar incident can call the Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222, the FBI Orlando office at 407-875-9976, the FBI Tampa office at 813-253-1000 or anonymously through Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
