I think every day this past week has hit temperatures in the low 80s!  The normal high for this time of year is 71 degrees.  The water temperatures have recovered from a low of 59 degrees to 70 degrees as of this past Wednesday.

It may seem a little early, but I’ve seen some bass beds back in some shallow areas of Lake Toho.  I didn’t see any bass around those beds, but I did catch some smaller bucks in the area.  Bass fishing in general remains on the slow side, especially the artificial bite.

Most of the bites I’ve had have been on a 6-inch June bug trick worm and a 6-inch speed worm. I’ve caught a couple on top water baits and an occasional one on a spinner bait.  Guides are still bringing in some nice catches using wild shiners. Once you get them located you can usually catch five to 10 in the same general area. Try fishing along edges of hydrilla in 5 to 7 feet of water.

I’ve heard some really good news on the spec fishing.  Limit catches are being reported pretty regularly.

I talked to one of the fishermen at Big Toho Marina this past Wednesday.  He said he caught his limit of 25 in just 30 minutes.  Jigs and jigs tipped with a minnow should do the trick if you’re willing to give it a try.

Question of the Week

Do you think this year's Osceola County high school graduates will find life more difficult than their parents did?
