Kissimmee Police Department detectives are working a shooting that left a mother and her 9-year-old son injured in the area of Smith Street and East Cypress Street

At approximately 7 a.m. today (Saturday), officers responded to the Tiny Tots Child Care Center in reference to shots fired.  Upon arrival, officers found a 32-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son had suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The victims were in their vehicle waiting for the business to open when the incident occurred, police reports said. Both victims were transported to local hospital.

Witnesses heard the gunshots and observed a dark vehicle leaving the area at the time of the incident, reports said.  No other information is available at this time.  It remains an ongoing investigation.
