Based on the projected path of Tropical Storm Isaac, all Osceola County schools, city and county government offices will open Monday morning.

The forecast calls for about 3-5 inches of rain and sustained winds of 25-35 mph with gusts of 55 mph possible throughout the night, according to the National Weather Service.

The biggest threat is the chance for tornados spawned from the feeder bands on the eastern edge of the storm as it makes its way west into the Gulf of Mexico. The likelihood is high that the county will be under a tornado watch for extended periods of time through the evening and overnight hours.

A contingent of Emergency Management staff and partners will remain on hand during the overnight hours to closely monitor conditions and to handle any issues that arise as a result of Tropical Storm Isaac.

The best protection during a tornado is in an interior room on the lowest level of a building.

Redidents should check emergency equipment, such as flashlights and battery-powered equipment such as cell phones and your NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards receiver.
