Hilda Brown, a Kissimmee resident since 1985, recently turned 101-years-old. She celebrated her birthday at her home with her niece, two great nieces, their spouses and two great-great nieces.

Born in Dalton, Yorkshire, England in 1911, Brown came to the U.S. at the age of 8 after her father was killed in World War I. She, her mother, sister and brother made their journey to America on the Baltic, sister ship of the Titanic. Brown spent most of her life near Pittsburgh, Pa. and became an executive secretary to the treasurer at Universal Cyclops steel company. She never married and retired to Ft. Lauderdale before moving to Kissimmee to be near her brother, who is now 98, and his family.
