At the Osceola County All-Star basketball games Saturday, the East topped the West, 65-54, in the girls game, but the West was best, 79-57, for the boys.

Twenty-eight seniors played for the final time in their high school colors before a crowd of about 200 during the games at the Osceola High gym, organized by OHS girls coach Barner Cooks.
The girls game was tied at 28 at the half before the East scored 21 points in the third period, led by Harmony’s powerful inside duo of Marie Gilbert (19) and Nia Frederick (17).
St. Cloud’s Nohemy Aguila (17) also scored in double figures. Alyssa Mediavilla (9) hit three 3-pointers. Gateway’s Maya Nelson (3) also scored).
Gilbert was the game’s MVP. She was joined on the All-Star team by Frederick, Aguila and the West’s Jenaye Johnson (11) of Osceola, Gida Victor (11) of Celebration and Kadesia Johnson (10) of Poinciana.
Osceola’s Iyanna Pryce (10) and Chanel Chllers (6), and Liberty’s Kelila Naules (5) and Kadijah Brown (2) also scored for the West.
In the boys game, the West team, led by MVP Robert Young (16) of OHS, blew out to a 38-20 halftime lead and was never threatened.
Osceola’s Petronio Sanfiel (13) and Michael Sanchez (12) along with Poinciana’s Paris Greene (11) and James Nicholson (11) also scored in double figures.
The East was led by Gateway’s Leo Widmann (14) and Heritage Christian’s Josh Newman (10).
Newman’s 360-degree dunk in the fourth quarter brought the crowd to its feet, Cooks said.
Sanchez, Petrone, Sanfiel, Widmann and St. Cloud’s Zach Hull (10) were on the All-Star team.
“The game went well, the All-Stars really enjoyed themselves,” Cooks said.
Several college coaches from Webber International University, Brevard State College, South Georgia Tech and Warner Southern University, among others, scouted the game and gathered more information on several participants, Cooks said.
