Valerie Ann Porter, 36, of St. Cloud, died early Sunday after crashing her van into a utility pole while speeding down Kissimmee Park Road near Lake Tohopekaliga Road in St. Cloud.

Porter, who wasn't wearing her seat belt, around 3:40 a.m. Sunday was driving over the 55 mph speed limit when, for unknown reasons, she drove off the asphalt and onto the north shoulder of the roadway, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Porter overcorrected her 2002 GMC Savana van and traveled toward the south shoulder of the road when the vehicle overturned before striking a utility pole. Porter was ejected from the van, and the vehicle came to a final rest on its left side, pinning Porter beneath it, the report stated. Porter died at the scene.

Toxicology reports, determining whether alcohol played a factor, are pending, the report stated.
