Team in action in G League Showcase this weekend in Orlando
The Osceola Magic closed out the NBA G League Showcase Cup portion of their 2025-26 with three losses to the Memphis Hustle – the last two by a combined five points.
Despite finishing 8-6, they’ll still play two games in the G League Showcase this weekend at the Orange County Convention Center.
At the Silver Spurs Arena Sunday, playing without Orlando Robinson and Jamal Cain who accompanied the Orlando Magic to Las Vegas for the NBA Cup semifinal, Osceola trailed by 16 at the half after a flat second quarter but rallied late to fall, 122-120.
Tuesday night, the Hustle had the upper hand in the first quarter, shooting nearly 70% from the field to take a 42-30 lead, but the Magic owned the second quarter, opening it on a 19-4 run to grab the lead back. Thanks to 12 quick points off the bench from Phillip Wheeler, Osceola led, 68-66, at the half.
But Memphis (7-7) opened the third quarter on a 9-2 run and never lost the lead. A 10-4 run late in the fourth quarter sealed it.
Cain and Robinson each scored 20 points, and Alex Morales added 18 as he kept the Magic within striking distance in the third quarter as five Hustle players scored at least 15, led by Charlie Brown Jr.'s 28.
Osceola will open the G League regular season part of the schedule on Dec. 27 on a West Coast road trip to start 10 games on the road as Osceola Heritage Park hosts the Mecum auto auction.
“Regular season starts now with those games counting towards our record. Obviously disappointing way to end the showcase portion for us," Osceola Coach Dylan Murphy said. "We just have to regroup, get back to work, dig into the details and get this thing going. We know how quickly things change in pro basketball, so we’ll be ready to go.”
They will return to the Spurs on Jan. 26 to play the Toronto Raptors 905, the start of six home games in 12 nights.
