Harmony Longhorns take All-OBC team standings lead into spring

Despite not winning any Orange Belt Conference team titles during the winter season, when basketball, soccer, wrestling and girls weightlifting and competitive cheer were in season, Harmony High School opened up a lead entering into the spring for Osceola County’s All-Sports competition.

Tied with Celebration High coming out of the fall, the Longhorns finished either second or third in eight points-paying sports and earned 51 points in the winter, and now lead the county with 93 points.

OBC champions earn eight points per sport, down to one point for the eighth place team.

The CHS Storm won titles in competitive cheer and boys and girls soccer and was second in girls weightlifting to score 41 winter points. They sit in second place (83) going into the spring. They are followed by St. Cloud (74), Tohopekaliga (67), Gateway (59), Osceola (48), Poinciana (32) and Liberty (21).

The Kowboys won winter titles in boys basketball and boys and girls wrestling, and St. Cloud took the girls basketball and girls weightlifting titles.

Thus far this spring, Harmony is likely stretching its lead, having already clinched OBC titles in baseball and girls flag football, and should be competitive in the conference track, softball and boys volleyball meets this week. (See AroundOsceola.com all this week for results of those matchups.)

The Osceola County School District will hand out the end-of-year trophies and awards for coaches, athletes, student athletes and athletic director of the year at its May 17 banquet.
