Kissimmee Police Department announced it has made arrests in connection with a shooting in the downtown district that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 6.
As a result of what KPD called "an extensive and thorough investigation, working to gather evidence and identify those responsible," Nycole Camareno-Arana, 32, Ramon Camareno-Arana, 31, and Andres Camareno -Arana, 25, have been taken into custody and charged with attempted second-degree murder.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., officers say they responded to a call from the downtown Kissimmee parking lot adjacent to the Kissimmee intermodal and Amtrak station. Two individuals were found with gunshot wounds, one to the leg and one to the head. Both victims were immediately transported to a local hospital and were in stable condition.
No other information has been released regarding the arrests. Court records do show Nycole Camareno-Arana is being held on additional felony charges of carjacking, burglary with assault or battery and tampering with evidence. Records also show she was arrested on May 6 and charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief about five hours after the shooting reportedly took place. While in an interview room around 6:15 a.m., a police report says she became aggravated and threw a chair and table against a two-way mirror; once placed in handcuffs she reportedly began to throw herself against the glass and officers had to physically intervene. She was released on a $250 bond.
Jail records also show Ramon Camareno-Arana is also held without bond on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. The News-Gazette has made a records request for the arrest affidavit from the incident.
Kissimmee Police Chief Chuck Broadway said the city's downtown "Is a place for families, businesses, and visitors to feel safe."
"Our department is committed to holding individuals accountable for acts of violence in our community. If you come to Kissimmee with the intention of committing a crime, know that we will find you and bring you to justice," he said. "We will not tolerate those who threaten that safety."
