The Osceola County Sheriff's Office reports it's made an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday in Poinciana.
Jovaniel Lopez-Marrero, 21, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He's been booked into
the Osceola County Jail without bond, jail records show. He made his initial appearance in front of a judge Monday.
Deputies responded to the shooting Thursday near the intersection of Cypress Parkway and Doverplum Avenue and found victim Micah Gabriel Mebane, 35, who was lying unconscious in the parking lot with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead after being transported to the HCA Florida Poinciana Medical Center.
According to a witness at the scene, Mebane had been involved in a physical fight with two men, including Lopez-Marrero. The witness said she heard Lopez-Marrero threaten Mebane, saying “I’m going to kill you,” before pulling a gun from his waistband and firing once. Lopez-Marrero then fled the scene in a blue pickup truck.
The same day, the Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Lopez and arrested him for the shooting and took him into custody around 1:30 a.m. Friday.
