A 68-year-old Harmony man has been arrested for digital voyeurism after hidden camera footage of a nude woman was discovered on a USB drive he allegedly left at a café where the Harmony Community Development District (CDD) board holds its meetings.
According to an Osceola County Sheriff’s report, an unnamed attendee found the drive after the March 27 CDD board meeting at Su Mesa Café in Harmony. The person said they opened the drive to identify the owner and instead discovered nude video footage of a woman who appeared unaware she was being filmed. The district’s regional director helped notify law enforcement on April 2.
Investigators say Joseph Janeczek later called the CDD office to ask if anyone had found his missing USB drive, providing a matching description. Officials informed him it had already been turned over to law enforcement. Janeczek allegedly called the sheriff’s office on April 4 to get it back.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found multiple videos on the drive showing a nude woman in a bathroom, with file dates ranging from 2018 to 2024. Several Word documents containing screenshots from the videos were also recovered.
Deputies were able to identify the woman and reached out to her on April 24. She confirmed the images were of her and identified the bathroom as one inside the Janeczek residence on Oak Glen Trail in Harmony. The victim, who lives in New Jersey, told deputies she visits the Janeczek home a few times a year but never consented to being recorded and was unaware of any hidden cameras in the home.
Reports said after receiving a text message from investigators, the woman called Janeczek to ask if she should respond. He allegedly told her the footage was "accidentally" captured by a hidden camera in a guest bedroom.
During an April 25 interview with sheriff’s investigators, Janeczek admitted to having nude photos of the woman on the USB drive. The interview was cut short when he received a phone call from an attorney and invoked his right to legal counsel. A warrant for his arrest was issued May 6, and he was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail, charged with one count of felony digital voyeurism. He was later released on a $20,000 bond.
