POINCIANA NEWS — It’s not just the heat that says summer’s coming!

Summer’s coming! Whether its classes for credit recovery or even a fun summer experience the Osceola School District has you covered.

The 3rd Grade Reading Summer Camp for students who score a Level 1 or 2 on 2025 FAST can attend Reading Summer Camp to receive intensive reading instruction. This is an opportunity to earn a Good Cause Exemption for promotion to 4th Grade will be available during this reading camp.  Camp dates are June 4-26 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  at KOA Elementary and Sunrise Elementary.

The Summer 21st Century Program provides students with project-based learning activities and service learning for K-5 students. There is no cost to attend. Classes are 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Chestnut Elementary, Deerwood Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, KOA Elementary and The Poinciana Academy for Fine Arts.

Osceola School Districts Environmental Camp allows students to explore the natural environments of Osceola County through the living classroom at the District’s Environmental Center at 4300 S. Poinciana Blvd.  Camp dates are June 9-12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This camp is for grades 4-5.  Camp highlights include scientific investigations of Everglades animals, walk the elevated boardwalk to see flora and fauna, study animal tracks and signs of wildlife, hike through ancient forests and learn about Florida wildlife, geology and ecology.

Middle School Math, Social Studies and Language Arts Recovery provides Middle School Students with the opportunity to recover a course they failed from June 4-26 at Discovery Intermediate. All classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

VPK Remediation provides services for select VPK to close the learning achievement gap for students entering kindergarten. The dates are June 4-July 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Liberty High School and KOA Elementary.

 

Osceola Business Academy Internships Careersource Central Florida and local business owners will provide a paid internship in the Central Florida Community.  Summer internships are offered to all Poinciana High School students.  The dates are June 4–26 from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Poinciana High School.
