Police report sheds light on deadly early Sunday St. Cloud shooting

"It's over, I blew her brains out"

An arrest affidavit released in the Sunday fatal shooting shed light on the death of Natalie Du Mee, 58.

She was the fiancé of Timothy Hyder, 57, who police say shot and killed Du Mee after the two had a drunken argument about if she would ever marry him.

According to the police report, officers responded to a 911 call at the Western Sun Drive home where Hyder, Du Mee, her mother and adult daughter live just before 1 a.m. Sunday. The daughter said she heard Hyder and Du Mee arguing on the back porch, then saw Hyder come to an upstairs closet adjacent to the bedroom where she was watching a movie, then go back downstairs.

After hearing a loud noise from downstairs, the daughter said she went down to investigate and saw her mother bleeding from her neck and mouth.

“It’s over, I blew her brains out,” Hyder reportedly said, before telling the daughter to call 911. The daughter stated she did not see Hyder with a gun but knew he kept one in the closet he entered. Police discovered a holstered silver and black revolver on the kitchen counter.

When Hyder was interviewed, he said they’d returned home from a party where they drank, and they argued. According to the police report, Du Mee said she would not marry him and gave him her engagement ring. He reportedly then got the gun, asked Du Mee “If she was sure that she was not going to marry him and she said yes,” the report states. “Timothy stated he ‘put one right in the back of her head.’” He then went outside so law enforcement could take him into custody, and reportedly told police he, “Wished he could take back what occurred and that he ‘snapped.’”

Hyder, who filed for divorce from his previous wife in 2022, also has no other criminal record in Osceola County.
