Woman killed in Sunday Nolte Road crash identified as bright, recent St. Cloud High grad

Lana Fellows, 19, remembered as "everything you wanted in a young adult"

Tributes are pouring in for a local 19-year-old killed in a crash in St. Cloud Sunday night.

Lana Fellows was a student at William & Mary University after having graduated from St. Cloud High School in 2024. A budding marketing and entrepreneurship student, she was involved in a number of performance arts such as the St. Cloud High Golden Girls dance team, which she captained her junior and senior year, and was an accomplished and award-winning aerialist, performing professionally for six years.

"No matter what challenges came her way, she always rose above them. Every single time," a post from Monday read on the Golden Girls' Facebook page. "Lana was a perfect balance of sass and kindness, caring deeply for everyone around her. She was a true leader, guiding others with excellence, empathy, and warmth. She led by example, inspiring everyone she met ... She was endlessly creative, incredibly kind, and truly one of a kind. Words can’t capture the depth of this loss or how much she will be missed."

Fellows was seen as an achiever by the Osceola County School District. Superintendent Dr. Mark Shanoff named her as a founding member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council.

"Lana was everything you wanted in a young adult—she was a motivated, involved, funny, responsible, talented leader," Shanoff wrote Monday in a social media post. "Her smile was infectious and her personality was a light to everyone who knew her. Her greatest legacy will be in how student leaders continue to develop pride in their schools and use student voice for positive campus change."

According to Florida Highway Patrol, who is investigating the crashes, Fellows was killed Sunday while riding as the passenger in a Toyota Corolla that ran a stop sign on Old Hickory Tree Road at Nolte Road just before 7 p.m. The Corolla, driven by a 19-year-old Gainesville man, was struck by a Nissan Quest headed eastbound on Nolte driven by a 74-year-old St. Cloud man. The right side of the Corolla collided with the front of the Quest, the crash report said. The two drivers and a 49-year-old female passenger in the Quest from St. Cloud were taken to HCA Florida Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but Fellows taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where she passed away, troopers said in the report.
