Kissimmee Fire Department adds sixth rescue vehicle

The City of Kissimmee Fire Department recently added a sixth rescue vehicle to its fleet.

This new rescue will be housed at Station 14, on John Young Parkway between Osceola Parkway and Carroll Street, becoming the second manned rescue vehicle at this location. Station 14 is the busiest unit in the city, Kissimmee officials said, and this additional rescue will help with the demand of increased calls for help. Between 2020 and 2021, the city said KFD saw an increase of over 3,000 calls from patients needing transport.

The vehicle will respond to emergencies and transport those in need to the hospital, in addition to firefighting, ready to respond to emergency situations such as fire calls, car crashes, medical emergencies, and more.

“We are excited to announce the addition of our sixth Advanced Life Support ambulance to our services," Kissimmee Fire Chief Jim Walls said. "This is the first additional rescue added since October 2017 and will assist with our increasing call volume as we continue to provide first-class service to our community.”

City officials said the unit cost approximately $600,000, and was paid for using sales tax revenue. It is now in service in the fleet.
