Did you know we have a place to immerse yourself in native American history right on our own backyard? The Jororo Native Village, located at 2001 E. Southport Road, is a full-scale history village which depicts how one family would have lived in the headwaters of the Everglades 500 years ago. Owned and operated by Oskwanontona Pia Roya, who is from the Comanche nation on his father’s side, and First Nations, Federal Mohawk on his mother’s side and is also a fourth-generation educator and entertainer on native culture.
This one-hour show’s programs are: Lifestyle Living on the Southern Plains, Iron Horse Singers and Dancers, Earth Skills, Primitive Cooking, Primitive Medicines and Eatable Vegetation, Go Native, Journey through Joro Native Village (located at Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures) and Go Native Scout Programs. Camp-outs are also available for a group.

Today at the Library: Children can explore the 5 senses with sensory activities at the Poinciana Library’s Sensory Playdate on April 6 from 2-3 p.m. This can benefit all children but are particularly helpful to those on the Autism spectrum.
Open Mic Night: Poetry Addition will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Share your original creative writing in celebration of National Poetry Month. Not ready to share? Listen and support other poetry enthusiasts. Next week’s theme on April 13 from 6:30-8 p.m. will be Blackout Poetry Art. Transform old book pages into a work literary art. Supplies will be provided. There will also be anther Open Mic Night on April 27 from 6-7:30 p.m.
All Library programs are free and open to the public.
Love Makes Me Grow will host a Chestnut Community Pop-up Market on April 22 from 12-3 p.m. These monthly events will be held throughout the year. To become a vendor for this event and future events throughout 2023, go to https://bit.ly/3TZ7lAA. Each vendor space is 10 x 10 and the fee is $25. The fee can be paid via Zelle, PayPal or cash. After the application is sent in and approved, the program director will forward final email to complete payment process.
Poinciana Little League is currently accepting registration for summer camp. There are two sessions to choose from – pick one or both! Session A runs June 12-30. T-Ball is Monday to Friday from 7-8:30 p.m., all other divisions are Monday to Friday from 7-9 p.m. Session B runs from July 10-28. T-Ball is Monday to Friday from 7-8:30 p.m., all other divisions are Monday to Friday from 7- 9 p.m.
