KUA announces Calendar Contest winners

Kissimmee Utility Authority has announced the winners of its 28th annual student Energy Conservation calendar art contest. Open to Osceola County students in kindergarten through fifth grade, the contest promotes energy conservation among students and their families.
120 Osceola County families will receieve Christmas Dinner Boxes at the Marydia Community Center Saturday morning beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Three county Commissioners will host drive-through Christmas meal over the next week: District 4 (Cheryl Grieb): Dec. 11, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Marydia Community Center (707 Sawdust Trail, Kissimmee). A free, drive-thru Christmas Food Distribution.

Through their annual collaborative effort, Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS, the City of Kissimmee Fire Department and the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department hope to see a lot of green and little to no red this holiday season.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office participated in the locally time-honored tradition of Shop With a Cop on Dec. 1 at the St. Cloud Wal-Mart. Students are annually nominated by School Resource Officers and are invited to the event.

Two passengers in an SUV were killed in a crash on Interstate 4 late Monday night near the State Road 417 and World Drive interchange, the Florida Highway Patrol reports. Around 10:50 p.m., two vehicles were headed westbound.

According to AAA, Florida gas prices are -- slowly -- adjusting to a recent plunge in the price of crude oil. The state average for a gallon of gas in Florida dropped $3.30 per gallon, after declining 4 cents during the past week.

Simpson Road between Fortune Road and U.S. Highway 192 has reopened after a collision involved two SUVs occurred just before noon at Country Lane, near the Professional and Technical High School of Osceola County, Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS said today.
