For many years now, adequate funding has been available to families and communities to eliminate veteran homelessness. Even with the additional mental health, substance abuse help, general healthcare, and employment resources available to veterans, the problem persists, with an estimated 46,000 homeless vets nationwide as of 2023. The website below has contact information and resources for veterans, and potential landlords and employers, to assist homeless veterans. See https://bit.ly/3EGYxJG.

Hope Florida

At the state level, Hope Florida navigators can guide veterans to a very wide variety of state, federal, private sector, and not-for-profit resources that go beyond the traditional assistance available to veterans through the VA of the state’s veterans’ programs. For more information see https://bit.ly/433HtI8

New Veteran Benefits App

The not-for-profit MyVetBenefits, dedicated to assisting survivors of National Guard and Reserve service members lost in the line of duty, has an app that provides streamlined veterans and survivor families information on veterans benefits applicable to all veterans and families. This is not an official VA or DOD app, so they are able to provide additional access to veterans’ organizations and other resources. The organization states they do not share any personal information, per their website. For more information see https://bit. ly/48DBFpX.

Tax Time

Free tax help is available to veterans through the Osceola Library. Some income limits apply. See https://bit.ly/4c6infO.
