Cross Prairie Parkway was shut down for most of Tuesday afternoon after a single-car incident at Partin Settlement Road, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Shortly before 2 p.m., a Ford pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old St. Cloud man was traveling north on Cross Prairie. FHP spokesperson Tara Crescenzi noted that witnesses said it appeared to be speeding. The truck struck a concrete curb on the right side of the road, and the driver overcorrected to the left and onto the the grass median, where it began overturning.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Partin Settlement ER, where he was pronounced dead.
Cross Prairie Parkway was closed in both directions between Partin Settlement and Neptune Road during the investigation, which FHP reports is still ongoing.
