At the Florida Court Clerks & Comptroller Association’s Summer Conference in early June, Osceola Clerk of the Circuit Court & County Comptroller Kelvin Soto and his team were recognized for following best practices recommended for use by all Florida Clerks & Comptrollers. Of Florida’s 67 counties, 57 Clerks & Comptrollers were recognized for having committed to following the best practices in 11 competencies, with 37 of those offices having received recognition in all available areas, of which Osceola County was one.
Osceola County received recognition of adherence to best-in-class practices in the areas concerning appeals; court record retention and destruction; determination of indigency; evidence storage and destruction; Exploitation of Vulnerable Adult Injunctions; Guardianship audits; reporting Mental Health cases to state agencies; requests to redact exempt personal information; Risk Protection Orders; and unclaimed funds.
Civil Division Director Michelle Shephard and Criminal Division Director, Catherine Smith, whose divisions were heavily involved in ensuring the office’s adherence to the best practices, accepted the award, Soto’s office announced.
