If you travel I-4 eastbound in Osceola County in the overnight hours, you'll want to be aware of a scheduled closure as part of the construction for the Moving I-4 Forward program, designed to increase capacity and lessen congestion.
The eastbound lanes will shut down from 12-4 a.m. August 9-11 from County Road 532/Osceola Polk Line Road/ChampionsGate Boulevarfd (Ext 58) to State Road 429 to allow for road construction.
Traffic that wishes to go east will exit at ChampionsGate Boulevard and turn right, then turn left (north) onto northbound Old Lake Wilson Road. Continue on Old Lake Wilson Road for approximately two miles, then turn left onto Sinclair Road toward S.R. 429. Turn left and take ramp to S.R. 429 southbound, then take Exit 1 to access the on-ramp to eastbound I-4.
FDOT is accelerating a series of projects in Central Florida to add two new Express Lanes in each direction along I-4 from west of U.S. 27 in Polk County to east of World Center Drive (State Road 536) in Orange County. It's an area that sees backups and slow traffic nearly every day. The work was moved up 10 to 20 years ahead of schedule by Gov. DeSantis' administration to strengthen the infrastructure system for future growth.
