POINCIANA NEWS — Did we hear about a parade of ugly sweaters?

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) Christmas Parade and Celebration is set for Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. making its way from Cypress Parkway to Vance Harmon Park. This family-friendly event features a grand parade with dozens of floats and participants. Immediately following the parade is the holiday celebration at the amphitheater at Vance Harmon Park. This celebration features a kid’s zone, a food truck lane, live entertainment, vendors and crafters, a Battle of the Bands and more.

Make plans and grab that ugly sweater! Ugly Bingo Party takes place on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Poinciana Community Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., first ball pulled at 7 p.m. This bingo is for ages 18 and over. The cost is 10 games for $5. The concession stand will be open and no outside food or drink is allowed.

And if bingo’s not your thing, check out Rob Gallo’s Christmas Light Show at 922 Dartmouth Court. Friday night is opening night starting at 6 p.m. This year’s display includes snow. Opening night also features a visit from Mister Softee.

 

Save the date! County Commissioner Brandon Arrington’s Party with Santa takes place on Friday, Dec. 19 from 6-7 p.m. at the Valencia College Poinciana campus. The festivities include photos with Santa, face painting, balloon artist, kid’s games, music and a Christmas cookie decoration station.

Registration is required (https://bit.ly/3LFN15N) for children to receive a gift and this event is exclusively for Osceola County residents.

 

Tis the season! Holiday Karaoke takes place on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 1-2 p.m. at the Poinciana Library. Sing some of the most iconic tunes of this festive season.

Earlier in the day, unlock the full potential of your mobile device and learn how to navigate, customize and use key features on your smart phone and tablet at Mobile Device Basics: Android, from 10-11:30 a.m.

Conversational Spanish takes place Friday, Dec. 5 from 3-4 p.m. This adult class allows you to engage with other speakers to practice your Spanish and improve your confidence and vocabulary. Basic Spanish skills are required.

Makers Café: Yarn Holiday Trees happens on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 2-4 p.m. Get crafty as you design and decorate a holiday themed tree using yarn, ornaments and lots of creative flair. Supplies will be provided.

All Library programs are free and open to the public. The Poinciana Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.

 

The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) began work on Monday, Dec. 1 to renovate Darby Park. Located in Deerwood, Village 2, this park is a favorite for local families with its picnic areas and sporting park. This area has been chosen for the next Poinciana beautiful project.
