The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a Kissimmee woman driving a bus was involved in a fatal crash that closed State Road 417 this morning, diverting all traffic onto John Young Parkway.
According to the FHP report, just before 6 a.m. an SUV driven by an Orlando woman stalled in the right lane. A 30-year-old Orlando man was attempting to push the SUV out of the way when the bus driven by the 56-year-old driver struck the rear of the SUV, and the man pushing.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, the report said, and the woman and two children in the SUV, both in car seats, were transported to local hospitals in stable condition.
All southbound traffic was diverted onto John Young Parkway, with those trying to reach Interstate 4 or points west using Osceola Parkway. Traffic was also heavier than usual on Orange Blossom Trail down to Osceola Parkway.
