OHS wrestlers earn branding award
By Rick Pedone
The Osceola High wrestling program won the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s and ELSM Sports Marketing’s Best of Brand Open marketing and branding competition last week.
The award recognizes outstanding efforts by high school and college wrestling programs to promote their teams.
Fans voted for the winners last week through a series of online matchups.
OHS assistant coach Rick Tribit thanked those who supported the Kowboys.
“This was an amazing week-long labor from you guys, the wrestling fans of the state of Florida, some assistance from the campers and coaches at the (University of Tennessee-Chattanooga) wrestling camp, friends, family members and fans from points as far as Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Ohio, Colorado and all points in between,” Tribit said.
Tribit said former OHS wrestler Chis Pagan, who placed at the Class 3A state meet, is the key person for Osceola’s promotional efforts. Pagan produced several videos about the OHS wrestlers which were uploaded to the team’s website, kowboyswrestling.com.
“Chris has amazing talent in this area in addition to his wrestling ability, and we are hopeful he will one day make a nice living producing videos and working in the sports marketing area, which is the area of study he is currently pursuing,” Tribit said. “It’s also a nice promotion for our kids and the program on a national stage.”
