Horror fans should have plenty to be scared about this weekend with the return of Spooky Empire’s May-Hem Convention.
This spring’s event  will be held at the DoubleTree at Universal Studios, 5780 Major Blvd., Orlando today and Sunday.
It is the first of two Spooky Empire conventions in 2014. This weekend’s guest list includes not only the horror genre, science-fiction, rock ‘n roll, fantasy and more.
Probably topping the list of events are the anniversaries of two major films featuring the actors from the films. From the original 1954 Godzilla film are Akira Takarada and Haruo Nakajima (the man behind the Godzilla mask). Both will  make a rare convention appearance together to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the original film and the 2014 Godzilla remake.
Another giant in the business, Robert Englund, “Freddy Krueger” himself will make an appearance as well other original cast members from A Nightmare on Elm Street,  Heather Langenkamp, Amanda Wyss and Ronee Blakley. The film is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
Other guest stars during the weekend include “Once Upon a Time cast members Lana Parrilla “Regina” (her first convention appearance), Lee Arenberg “Grumpy”, Rebecca Mader “The Wicked Witch”, and Sean Maguire “Robin Hood.”  The cast will be available for autographs, photo opportunities and a question and answer session.
And there is still more. Director John Carpenter (Halloween, They Live Escape from New York) also will make an appearance.
From the music side, the show  will bring Misfits members  members Doyle and Dr. Chud, The Ramones own Marky Ramone and Ex-Runaways members Lita Ford and Cherie Currie.
Other celebrity guests during the weekend available for meet and greets and autographs include  Disney’s own Pat Carroll (Ursula) from “The Little Mermaid, Jamie Kennedy “Scream” and “Ghost Whisperer,” Laurie Holden “The Walking Dead” and even a gathering of the original “Halloween” cast with Nick Castle, P.J. Soles, Charles Cyphers, Will Sandin, Nancy Loomis and Tommy Lee Wallace.
