Motorcycle crash closes Neptune Road
An accident on Neptune Road west of Neptune Middle School had the westbound lanes shut down and sent one motorist to the hospital earlier this morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, approximately 6:50 a.m. a Saturn Ion attempted to make a left turn onto Neptune from Sugar Cane Drive when it pulled into the path of a male, who has not been identified pending next of kin notification, headed eastbound on a Suzuki motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle collided with the left side of the Saturn.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, the report said. The Saturn driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Neptune Road was closed westbound just after Old Canoe Creek Road and rerouted onto Sgt. Boyd Graham Road back to U.S. Highway 192. It has since re-opened.
