Man arrested for beating elderly family member
Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Kissimmee man for allegedly stealing from and severely beating a family member.
Justin Robertson, 26, was charged with attempted murder, robbery, domestic aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older, domestic battery on a person 65 years or older, grand theft and resisting arrest without violence.
On Friday morning, deputies responded to a call at Duxbury Drive in Kissimmee, and witnessed Robertson leaving the residence when they arrived on the scene. They also located the 78-year-old victim lying face down on the porch of the residence with severe facial injuries and bleeding from the head. He was airlifted to Osceola Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Another 88 year-old female victim, also a family member, was treated for minor injuries to her wrist.
Witnesses told deputies that Robertson became involved in a verbal fight with the 88 year-old victim and started to severely beat him before running away to a neighbor’s house. Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives interviewed the victim at the hospital, who told them that he caught Robertson stealing prescription drugs the night before. Earlier Friday morning, the victim also saw him take beer and a television out of the residence. When the victim confronted Robertson, he broke off a table leg and began to beat him while taking the victim’s gold necklace and watch. The 88 year-old victim attempted to stop the fight, but Robertson pushed her, injuring her wrist.
Based on these statements and evidence, Robertson was arrested and taken to the Osceola County Jail.
