KPD seizes drugs, guns, cash
A pair of traffic stops in Kissimmee this week resulted in the seizure of firearms and nearly 120 grams of illicit drugs and the arrest of the three individuals transporting the drugs.
On Tuesday, Carla Angelica Rivera Velazquez, 27, and Alexis Rodriguez Ayala, 36, were arrested when Kissimmee Police officers were called to an altercation in the area of 3125 Windover Avenue at approximately 8:00 p.m. Prior to the officer’s arrival, the altercation ended and one of the individuals was seen leaving in a blue vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in Chelsea Square. While talking with Rivera, who was the driver, an officer noticed a bag of cannabis in plain view. Rivera and Rodriguez Ayala, her passenger, exited the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers seized 91 grams of cannabis, 1.2 grams of heroin, $15,760 and two firearms. Officers also learned that Rodriguez Ayala is on federal probation for prior drug charges and is a convicted felon in the State of Florida.
Rodriguez Ayala was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the commission of committing a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a convenience store and possession of heroin. Rivera Velazquez was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a convenience store. Both were transported to the Osceola County Jail, where they are being held on $11,500 and $2,500 bond respectively.
A traffic stop Wednesday morning near the intersection of West Vine Street and Armstrong Avenue resulted in the arrest of Benjamin Ford, 37, who was found with cannabis and crystal methamphetamine and arrested.
A Kissimmee patrol officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 2:00 a.m. on a vehicle with a broken headlight. While making contact with the driver, the officer smelled a strong order of un-burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and found 13.9 grams of cannabis located in a black case in the car. Ford, the driver, was placed under arrest and searched, revealing another bag that contained 14.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with $2,570 in his pocket. He was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Osceola County Jail and is being held on $51,000 bond.
