GIRLS BASKETBALL PREVIEW — Gateway has experience for a deep playoff run

Entering his ninth season as head coach, Justin Marino has built an outstanding girls basketball program at Gateway. The Lady Panthers have averaged 20 wins a season over the last four years and have made four straight trips to regionals, including a 2024 Class 5A Final Four appearance.

Red Letter (Of Intent) Day for college signees

High school athletes could sign with college programs as part of the 2026 signing period earlier this month, and thus far six athletes among three county schools have locked up their collegiate sports opportunities by signing National Letters of Intent for scholarships.

For Osceola coach Eric Pinellas, it’s a simple proposition for his banged up Kowboys football team that will travel to South Lake (10-1) Friday night in a Class 6A regional semifinal playoff game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

At the start of a sports season, you’re rarely looking backward.But, at Osceola High School’s gym Tuesday, on the night of the opening basketball game of the 2025-26 season, the Kowboys’ turned back the clock and honored a coach who helped author of the program’s greatest past success.

Orlando Pride season ends with last-minute heartbreak

The defending National Women's Soccer League champions' season ended in the cruelest way possible Sunday afternoon. Jaedyn Shaw's free kick in the 97th minute gave NJ/NY Gotham FC a 1-0 victory over Orlando Pride in the NWSL semifinals, stunning a near sold-out Inter&Co Stadium into disbelief.
