County Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington invites Osceola County residents ages 55 and up to join the District 3 monthly Bingo on Friday, Aug. 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Poinciana Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave. This month’s theme is Hurricane Bingo.
It’s still summer! Summer Beach Party Bingo takes place on Friday, Aug. 28 at the Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. and first ball is called at 7 p.m. Beach Party Bingo is for adults 18 and older. 10 games are available for $5 with cash payouts. Concession stand will be open, no outside food or beverage allowed. Bingo is played every Friday night.
Roll up your sleeves! HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital hosts the Big Red Bus on Monday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donors will receive a health exam that includes temperature, blood pressure and heart rate and will receive a Big Red Bus T-shirt and a $20 gift card. Falls are not a normal part of aging! Kick-off National Falls Prevention Awareness Month on Friday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital. Falls Free: 6 Things You Can Do Today, a free community lunch & learn will show what you can do today to reduce your risks for falls and maintain your health, safety and independence. The Mobile Museum of Tolerance will be at the Poinciana Library Aug. 13-15 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. all days.
This interactive and inspirational learning experience on wheels provides powerful exhibits about the Civil Rights Movement, Anne Frank and the role of ordinary people during the holocaust.

Ink and Independence: Calligraphy class takes place on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Library. Adults can experience the art and history of calligraphy and practice eloquent lettering techniques while uncovering the cultural traditions behind them. Supplies will be provided. School-aged children 6-11 are invited to the LEGO Club on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Build a masterpiece using imagination, creativity and engineering skills. Complete one of the Library’s challenges or make something unique.
Adults can Color Your Cares Away on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 2-3 p.m. Experience the stress reducing benefits of adult coloring. Supplies will be provided.
Baby and Me takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Hug your little ones while sharing this special first-time experience. This is for children to 18 months. This program introduces books with playtime and repetitive music.
Rhythm, Rhyme & Storytime takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 10:30-11 a.m. This program is for children through age 5. Sing, swing and sway through this program dedicated to music and movement.
R.I.S.E. Up Osceola: READ Bus will be at the Library on Monday, Aug. 17. This Osceola School District’s Special Programs Department is bringing their READ Bus, a renovated yellow school bus with an interior that resembles a mini pre-K classroom will be onsite. The age group is children ages 3-4. Times for this event are 9:30 a.m. and noon.
Poinciana Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave. All Library programs are free and open to the public.
Osceola County is still seeking residents to serve on the Lakes Advisory Committee. Poinciana’s District, District 3 is in need of 2 Lakes Committee Advisors.
