Women offered self-defense class by Crime Watch

Start the New Year off well with personal safety at the forefront.

Women’s Self-Defense and Personal Safety Class, presented by Poinciana Neighborhood Crime Watch (Polk County), will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave.

Women’s Self Defense and Personal Safety Class is open to all women ages 13 and up. Young women ages 13 to 17 must have a parent or guardian with them. For more information, email martinnegronsr@gmail.com.

The first Physicians Lecture Series Lunch and Learn of 2020 will be on Monday, Jan. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the Poinciana Branch Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave.

Led by Dr. Oral James, a gastroenterologist at Poinciana Medical Center, the discussion will be managing bowel disease. The discussion will cover a variety of disorders involving chronic inflammation of the digestive tract. The lecture and lunch is free of charge and open to the public. RSVP by calling 888-253-8117.

Radiant and Dunkin will present a Car Show on Sunday, Jan. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. at Dunkin, 800 Cypress Parkway. The Car Show will feature food, entertainment and American Muscle Cars.

Have you reserved your spot yet for the Poinciana Beautiful Homeowners Awards Gala? The gala is set for Saturday, Jan. 25, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Anthony DePalma Building, 395 Marigold Ave.

A total of 125 homes entered the Poinciana Beautiful incentive, created to honor those who took much pride in their home’s appearance. There will be a winner in each of Poinciana’s Villages. Winners will be announced at the end of the gala. The Poinciana Beautiful Homeowners Award Gala will be Hollywood-themed. Appetizers will be served and there will be a cash bar. Entertainment will be provided by Nova Jazz.
