State Rep. Stark to hold ‘Meet & Greet’ at new office Join District 47 State Rep. Paula Stark and her staff for a “Meet & Greet” and Open House at her new Kissimmee legislative office on Feb. 2 from 5:307:30 p.m. In addition to the Meet & Greet, The Osceola Chamber & the St. Cloud Greater Osceola Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for a ribbon cutting for the opening of the office at 1930 Fortune Road in Kissimmee (at Bill Beck Boulevard, a few doors down from Melao Bakery). She will talk about the overall community, and the efforts she will take to Tallahassee.

National group gives grant to local Ian-affected families The American School Superintendents Association (AASA) announced this week that the School District of Osceola County is one of 35 recipients of a 2023 Helping Kids Mini-Grant, a program funded by AASA, and supported by its government cooperative procurement partner, Sourcewell.

So far, $108,000 has been distributed to 35 school districts across the country and have been used for everything from urgent everyday necessities to disaster relief — in Osceola’s case, to help families affected by Hurricane Ian during its pass through the away Sept. 28-29.

“The organization gave us a nice donation in order to provide for students who were affected by the hurricane. It will allow us to provide 118 students who were impacted by Ian with Walmart gift cards through our Special Programs Department,” School District spokesperson Dana Schafer said.

According to AASA, it is providing these funds to districts for assistance with promoting healthy students, healthy staff and/ or healthy buildings in districts impacted by 2022 natural disasters.

“AASA wants to help. As the nation’s premier organization serving public school districts and school district leadership, a major part of what we stand for is to help school districts, especially those who need our help the most,” said AASA Executive Director Daniel A. Domenech. “We thank Sourcewell for making this relief effort possible. This partnership speaks to the unparalleled commitment being made to school districts nationwide.”
