Make Halloween a box of fun with these costumes

Did supply chain problems get in the way of you or your kids getting their preferred Halloween costume?

No? Well, got any boxes laying around?

This year, making “boxtumes” is a way to keep costs down and even have a fun family activity.

Ideas come from moving company Two Men and a Truck, which has a Kissimmee location — and a lot of excess boxes.

Considering many families and towns didn’t participate in Halloween or Trick-or-Treating in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, some of the ideas pay homage to that wreck of a year.

Boxes make it possible to be a “Quarantine Couch Potato” or, the thing that forced us to be couch potatoes last year, a “2020 Dumpster Fire”.

How does one become a dumpster fire? Take a medium box, fold and tape open both ends, spray paint it green, use paper scraps to create, color and glue on flames and a “2020” sign on the front, cut slats on the sides for straps and run ribbon, vinyl or leather straps through. Viola!

“Kids love playing with boxes anyway, so we took what we offer for Halloween and kicked it up a notch,” said Two Guys and Truck’s Andrea Benitez. “It’s easy for us because we have all these boxes.”
