Drug Take Back Day Saturday; drop off expired prescriptions

National Drug Take Back Day, an annual event law enforcement uses to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way of disposing of expired or unwanted, prescription drugs, is Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can turn in those medications for safe disposal at a number of locations around the county. At those locations, law enforcement will also be educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

The drop-off locations are:

• HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital, 325 Cypress Pkwy.;

• Publix at Pleasant Hill Commons, Pleasant Hill Road and John Young Parkway, just north of Good Samaritan Village;

• Publix at Boggy Creek Marketplace, 2625 Simpson Road;

• Publix Center of St. Cloud, 4401 13th Street;

• Veterans Memorial St. Cloud Library, 810 13th St.;

• HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, 700 W. Oak St. in Kissimmee.

During the last National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in October 2021, nearly 5,000 sites across the country collected 744,082 pounds of medications and medical supplies for disposal.
