A Kissimmee man police said spent a year sexually abused a 15-year-old male victim was sentenced Wednesday to 45 years in prison following his August conviction on several sex crimes.
Scott Arthur Shaw, 64, was found guilty by a jury on Aug. 8 on eight counts in crimes police say occurred between June 2022 and June 2023 on the then 15-year-old, explained rather graphically in a seven-page Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit. The charges included lewd and lascivious touching, battery, molestation and conduct against a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in August.
A prison sentence of 45 years ensures that Scott Shaw will never again have access to children," State Attorney Monique Worrell said in a statement this week. "He used trust and his standing in the community to gain access to a 15-year-old victim, and he was held accountable for those crimes."
It takes tremendous courage to come forward and to relive painful experiences in a courtroom. We hope this outcome brings some measure of justice and peace, and we will continue to stand with all victims throughout the process."
