Country music legend Toby Keith, who gave fans three decades of patriotic and party hits, passed away late Monday night at the age of 62.

In 2022, he revealed he was fighting stomach cancer. He took time for surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments and to spend time with his family, and emphatically returned to the stage in 2023. He launched a sold-out three-show run at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas in December.

Ironically, he started the Toby Keith Foundation to encourage the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients and to support
OK Kids Korral, a home for children battling cancer.

All told, he tallied 32 No. 1 hits and 42 Top 10 hits. Among them were iconic hits "Should've Been A Cowboy" that you still hear at Osceola Kowboys athletic events to this day. Showing his rough edges, he'd also become known for hits like "I Love This Bar" and the party mantra "Red Solo Cup". After the Sept. 11 attacks, his overt patriotism showed through with "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," a cathartic tune at the time where he revealed that his father had served in the Army and lost an eye.
