America at 250 — Practice patience … then light that candle!

It may have taken a little while, and avoiding a little thunder, but Osceola County celebrated the 250th anniversary of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence at the Semiquincentennial 4th of July.

The crowds gathered at the usual places—the Kissimmee and St. Cloud lakefronts, Old Town, Celebration Town Hall, Sunset Walk, and the theme parks— to take in the rockets’ red glare and bombs bursting in air of the traditional fireworks. Earlier in the day, U.S. Air Force Reserve aircraft from the 920th Rescue Wing soared above Disney, golf carts were on parade through Harmony and Holopaw, the smell of hamburgers and hot dogs was in the air—congrats to Pedro Juarbe for winning the hot dog eating contest in St. Cloud—and festive music made it a 4th to fondly feel forever.
