The threat of lightning delayed Kissimmee’s Monumental 4th of July celebration, but in the end it was the fireworks, not Mother Nature, that lit up the sky. In festivities during the afternoon, the Lakefront filled with enthusiastic attendees who rocked to live performances from local bands 408 and SoulSwitch, ate fare from the dozen food trucks, vendors, and concession stands located around the park and played in the KUA Kids Power Zone.

The fireworks went off at 10 o’clock instead of 9, giving the attendees more time to play, eat and party before the skies lit up with the color, providing a satisfying ending to an afternoon and evening that the weather almost cancelled. “This is one of our most iconic events of the year as we pay tribute to our American spirit,” said Mayor Olga Gonzalez
