The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has activated a new traffic signal at the intersection of West U.S. Highway 192 and Oren Brown Road, just west of Old Vineland Road/Bass Road near Medieval Times.
It's part of future intersection upgrades that include new crosswalks with pedestrian refuges, pedestrian crossing buttons and an improved, extended westbound left turn lane onto Oren Brown Road.
West 192 now also features two new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons near Four Winds Boulevard and Interior Street. These PHBs are overhead beacons that remain dark until activated by a pedestrian pressing a button on the signal pole. The PHB alerts drivers when activated to slow down with a flashing yellow light, followed by a solid yellow, to mark the presence of pedestrians. The beacon then displays a solid red light, requiring motorists to stop and allow pedestrians to cross. The beacon then flashes red, at which point drivers may proceed with caution once the crosswalk is clear. These beacons are designed to help pedestrians cross U.S. 192 more safely.
It's all part of an overall corridor improvement on 192 from Bamboo Lane just east of Vineland Road to Main Street. In addition to the new traffic signals and beacons, resurfacing is now underway throughout the corridor, and FDOT is also adding seven-foot-wide buffered bicycle lanes in both directions from east of Bamboo Lane to Hoagland Boulevard to improve safety and accessibility for bicyclists.

I-4 NEWS: The Interstate 4 eastbound offramp to State Road 417 and Celebration/Disney World (Exit 62) to World Drive nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Wednesday (April 22) as part of the Moving I-4 Forward project.
Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to temporarily close the Interstate 4 (I-4) eastbound off-ramp (Exit 62, Disney World/Celebration) to World Drive and State Road (S.R.) 417 northbound.
Eastbound I-4 drivers can access 417, World Drive or Celebration by continuing to U.S. 192 (Exit 64) and go west to World Drive/Disney or east to Celebration Avenue to then get on 417.
HARMONY DRIVERS: Expect intermittent right-lane closures on 192 from Old Melbourne Highway to Pine Grove Drive for concrete, sodding and sidewalk work Monday through Friday of this week (April 20-24).
