Tuesday, The Osceola Chamber gathered at Old Town Kissimmee to announce the arrival of The Three Kings ahead of Osceola's annual holiday event on Jan. 8.
Melissa Zayas-Moreno, Hispanic Business Council of the Osceola Chamber, recognized elected officials Kissimmee Mayor Olga Gonzalez, city Commissioner Janette Martinez (City of Kissimmee Commissioner), St. Cloud Police Deputy Chief Fran Rinehart and Giat Barrios from the office of Sen. Rick Scott, along with board members from the Hispanic Business Council.
“It has been an honor to be the 2022 Hispanic Business Council Chair and work along side some of the most amazing professionals in Osceola County. It has been a great year for the HBC board,” said Zayas-Moreno. “We gave $5,000 in scholarships to Osceola students, celebrated ‘Businesses under the Stars’, and award two Hispanic owned businesses for their practices in community involvement.”
Moreno addressed it being a great year and a year of reflection moving into 2023. The HBC continues to be a strong backbone of the Chamber as the Hispanic population grows in Osceola County, creating more Hispanic-owned businesses and other opportunities. A new chapter is started every year in the council with the rapid growth, she said.
“The Osceola Chamber is excited to announce the 18th annual Three Kings Day coming to Old Town Kissimmee, “said HBC Chair. “It will be celebrated Jan. 8th at 10 a.m.”
Three Kings' Day, a traditional Hispanic celebration to mark the Epiphany (the "12th Day of Christmas" to the more familiar), is the culmination of the holiday season, the day when additional gifts are exchanged and big family celebrations take place. Children write letters in advance to the Three Kings, telling them how good they were during the year and asking for gifts.
The media event wrapped up with a special visit from the Three Wise Men, who will appear on Jan. 8. In the spirit of giving and celebration of Three Kings Day, The Osceola Chamber’s Three Kings Day celebration will include toy giveaways, bicycle and tablet raffles, business vendors, live music, and more.
