The City of St. Cloud's Historic Preservation Board will hold a workshop next week to discuss the city’s nomination process for the National Register of Historic Places.
Property owners within the proposed St. Cloud National Register Historic District are encouraged to attend the workshop, scheduled for Tuesday, June 14 at 5 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, to learn, ask questions and provide feedback.
At the workshop, representatives from the Florida Bureau of Historic Preservation will present information on the National Register of Historic Places and the city’s historic district nomination, and will discuss how National Register designation would impact property owners.
The St. Cloud National Register Historic District is close in boundaries to the existing St. Cloud Historic District. It's boundaries are, in general, 9th Street, Wisconsin Avenue, Ohio Avenue between 9th and 12th streets, Indiana Avenue between 12th and 13th streets, and 13th Street.
In 2020, the City conducted a survey and inventory of area buildings to identify the City's historic resources that would potentially contribute to the proposed historic district. The findings were presented to the City Council and the public during three presentation sessions. This information was used as the basis for the nomination.
Copies of the district map and the historic district nomination are available from Ruben A. Acosta, Survey and Registration Supervisor, NationalRegister@dos.myflorida.com, or 850-245-6364.
