Yes, already kids! Back to School events starting up

It is almost time for school bells again! Back to school events are quickly coming up.

A free Back-to-School immunization event for Osceola County students needing TDAP (Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis) will be on July 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bellalago Charter Academy (3651 Pleasant Hill Road). No appointment is necessary, but bring your child’s recent immunization record, birth certificate or passport or other government issued ID. Parent/Guardian with a valid ID must accompany their child.

The Polk County’s Sheriff ’s Office Back to School Bash will provide 750 backpacks as well as school supplies to local students on July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Poinciana Community Park (5109 Allegheny Road). Several units of the Polk County Sheriffs agencies will be represented as well as other community agencies. Current sponsors for this event are: Vendors who provide a service may apply and be a part of the “2022 Bash”, but those who sell products are not able to apply. But kids can still soak up these last few weeks of summer vacation as there is still a few more summer activities.

The U.S. Center for the Education and Development of Elite Athletics is hosting their Elite Volleyball Camp. This middle and high school age camp will be held July 18-22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road. The fee is $60 per athlete and includes high-level training, lunch and a shirt. If your 12-18 year old is looking for a basketball camp, Elite Basketball will be holding one Aug. 1-5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road The fee is $60 per athlete and includes training, lunch and a shirt.

Registration is now open for Poinciana Little League 2022 Fall Baseball. The registration fee for this coed league is $100 per player. The season runs from Sept. 12 to Nov. 18.

The age divisions are 4-6 years old (T-ball); 6-8, 8-12 and 13-16.

Poinciana Youth Flag Football (PYFF) has opened registration for their All-Girls Flag League. This league is 10 weeks of skills and conditioning training, regular season, playoffs, and championship games. Girls ages 7-15 will compete in 3 separate age groups (7-9, 10-12, 13-15). A custom uniform will be provided for every participant and is included in cost. All games will be played at Vance Harmon Park (50 Country Club Road) from Sept. 12 to Nov. 26.

The fee is $125 per participant (scholarships are provided but are limited and payment plans are available). Minimum $50 deposit is required to reserve a roster spot regardless of registration type. Registration is currently open, space is limited. To register, go to https://pyffl.com/registration/.
